Meet the Hornchurch team

Mike

Sports Therapist

Mike has gained experience in professional sport and private practice. Most recently, he has been working with post-operative patients and those suffering with repetitive strain injuries to aspiring athletes looking to improve performance. Mike has also achieved TPI status and is working with golf enthusiasts, professionals and colleges.

Through his own experience of playing international Rugby with the England lambs and his work within a Championship rugby club, he has got a strong understanding of working within a multi-disciplinary setting and thrives working as a part of a team.

Mike emphasises the importance of identifying and eliminating the root cause of pain and explaining this to his patients. He builds comprehensive injury preventative plans to ensure patients don’t have to spend too much time away from their sport. He has a strong belief in a hands-on approach, and regularly utilises sports massage, joint mobilisation, shockwave therapy as well as acupuncture and dry needling.

However, this year his golfing focus lies within expanding his network within the golfing community and helping improve the game of golfers of all abilities!

Charlie

Physiotherapist

Charlie holds first-class degrees in both MSc Physiotherapy and BSc Sports Therapy, with experience working within elite football environments. Alongside this, he has spent the last three years in private practice, helping a wide range of patients recover from sporting injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.

With a strong passion for fitness and performance, Charlie understands the demands of training and rehabilitation first-hand through his own involvement in endurance sports, strength training and HYROX competitions.

Charlie enjoys building strong relationships with his patients and takes pride in helping people return to the activities and sports they love — feeling stronger, more resilient and more confident than before their injury.

Owen

Sports Therapist

Owen is a Sports Therapist that is a highly motivated and patient-centred clinician who brings both clinical expertise and a genuine passion for sport and performance to their work.

A graduate of the University of East London, he has developed extensive experience working pitch-side as well as in private clinical practice, treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, from acute injuries to long-standing chronic issues.

With a strong sporting background in football, rugby, and basketball—having competed at a high level in basketball—he has a deep understanding of the physical and mental demands placed on the body. This insight informs his approach to rehabilitation, enabling them to create tailored, effective treatment plans that align with each patient’s goals.

Owen’s approach is hands-on and adaptable, incorporating a variety of treatment techniques including soft tissue therapy, dry needling, acupuncture, shockwave therapy, joint mobilisations, and progressive rehabilitation exercises to support recovery and optimise performance.

Outside of the clinic, Owen remains actively involved in sport, playing football and basketball.

Lola

Physiotherapist

At 5Physio, Lola is a dedicated physiotherapist with a deep passion for helping athletes achieve their best potential and perform pain-free. With a background as a professional netball player for London Mavericks, Lola brings invaluable insights into the unique physical and mental demands of competitive sports.

Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Sports Rehabilitation, Lola is committed to staying at the forefront of the latest rehabilitation techniques and strategies. This academic knowledge, combined with practical experience, allows Lola to craft personalised treatment plans that prioritise swift recovery and optimal performance.

Understanding the urgency athletes feel when returning to their sport, Lola places a strong emphasis on effective rehab and treatment, making it a crucial aspect of the recovery process. Whether you’re overcoming an injury or aiming to enhance your performance, Lola is dedicated to guiding you through every step of your journey, ensuring you not only return to play but do so at your very best.

Susi

Chief Administration Officer

Susi joined our reception team having previously worked for 18 years in education teaching German, within a few short years she has progressed to be our Chief Administration Officer (CAO).

Outside of work she enjoys long walks, going to the theatre and losing herself in a good book.

Dan

Founder & Director

Dan is the founder and director of 5Physio, he has mastered his craft in the NHS and Private sector for the last 10 years with a big ambition to provide elite Physiotherapy care to the local community. ‘Dan has a very diverse Physiotherapy background but specialises in chronic back and neck pain, always making sure the main focus is on diagnosing the root cause of someone’s pain rather than just symptom managing.

His unique experience working in many multi-disciplinary settings has allowed him to gain invaluable knowledge and has been able to tailor his treatments to provide successful outcomes for all his patients. He is a strong believer in combining a very hands on approach alongside other treatments such as joint manipulation, acupuncture, shockwave therapy, electrotherapy and rehabilitation to achieve fantastic results for everyone.

When he’s not in the clinic he’ll normally be found on the golf course sulking because his business partner Kane has beaten him over 18 holes.’

Kane

Medical Director

Kane is medical director at 5Physio. Prior to 5Physio, he was the Head of Department at one of the most established and respected Orthopaedic and Sports clinics in Dubai, UAE. There he treated athletes from many different sports, both professional/amateur and people from all around the world. He also covered large sporting events such as the Dubai Rugby 7s and assisted with professional football teams during their winter training breaks.

Before spending nearly 6 years as an expat, Kane worked in the UK for both the NHS and private sector. He has vast experience in treating sport injuries, tendinopathies(tendinitis), neck and shoulder pain. He has also had enough knee injuries playing football to keep his skills up to date.

Kane is a trained diagnostic ultrasonographer and feels that a thorough assessment and a clear diagnosis is essential in a successful outcome. He regularly uses treatments such as soft tissue massage, joint manipulation, dry needling and acupuncture to help aid his patients recovery.

When he is not spending time with the family, Kane enjoys playing golf and tennis, although both are more suited to the year round sunshine in Dubai. However, he is looking forward to showing Dan what the fairway looks like.
